Serving the refugee population of Northern Virginia
The NOVACRW is focused on mental health, physical health, and overall wellness. The Coalition is composed of representatives from public, private, and nonprofit organizations, including state and local agencies, and the cities and counties of Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Loudoun, and Prince William.
The NOVACRW has four primary focus areas:
Create an open space for different organizations and community partners to network and share resources that support newcomers to thrive in the community.
Address systemic gaps in the service continuum faced by newcomers to support the development and implementation of culturally appropriate interventions.
Advocate for a sustainable mental health screening, referral process, and improve access to care for newcomers.
Provide resources to enhance individual’s wellbeing by addressing the eight dimensions of wellness such as, physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, vocational, financial, and environmental.
To support newcomers and their families in achieving wellness by increasing awareness of community resources and accessibility to medical and behavioral health services.
